SMITHVILLE / TEXAS

It’s not often we get to work on a project that personally impacts us, but this 1887 Greek Revival house was just that. When Mary purchased the abandoned home in 2020 for her family, her vision was to restore it into a New Orleans-style aesthetic — a city where she lived for many years. The renovation took more than a year. While the interiors had to be gutted and rebuilt, our team salvaged much of the original shiplap, siding, beadboard, and millwork to help retain the original aesthetic. Our goal was to create a haven where Mary's family and friends could gather. That meant creating a big new kitchen and dining area, complete with a 17-foot kitchen island, to be the heart of the home. Throughout the space, our team used a neutral color palette and a mix of modern and vintage fixtures that create a perfect balance.
